1. Easter Egg Hunts & Events

If you celebrate Easter, one of our favorite things to do with littles the week leading up to the holiday is joining a local egg hunt! We have a growing list of Dutchess County Easter Egg Hunts and events right here but please bookmark the page, we are still adding to the list this month.

2. Celebrate Earth Day

This spring break, bring the kids to Arm-of-the-Sea Theater- DIRT: THE SECRET LIFE OF SOIL, a fun and educational performance in celebration of Earth Day. The show explores the wonders of soil through engaging puppetry, music, and storytelling, making it a perfect way to connect children with nature and the environment.

3. Visit a local farmer's market

There's not much we love more than fresh flowers and food to signify the start of spring and really there's no better place to find all these things and more than at the Beacon Farmers Market. Also stay tuned, we hear there's a new East Fishkill Farmer's Market coming soon too!

4. Celebrate Spring at the Poughkeepsie Plaza

The Spring Event is a fun, free event for families featuring Bee Bee the Clown, Two by Two Zoo Express, Crafts, Town of Poughkeepsie Child ID Cards, Giveaways, Q92, and more!

5. Hike, Play, and Explore The Vassar Preserve

It's Family Day at the Vassar Preserve! Enjoy a day of hiking, games and crafts with the Environmental Cooperative at the Vassar Barns. Free, registration is encouraged.

6. Hunt for Deals on Spring/Summer Clothes and Gear 

The Be Green Consignment Sale is back at the Fishkill Recreation Center! Shop one of the biggest consignment sales in the area for all your family's spring and summer needs.

7. Visit a New Playground

When it comes to outdoor fun and adventure, Dutchess County boasts some of the best playgrounds and parks that will keep kids entertained for hours! Spring break is the perfect time to check out a new one. Find a list of our favorite parks, here.

8. Visit the Animals at Millbrook's Trevor Zoo

Explore over 180 species of animals in a beautiful, hands-on environment. From feeding goats to observing exotic wildlife, it’s the perfect destination for animal lovers of all ages this spring break.

9. Enjoy an Indoor Play Space

Spring break weather can be unpredictable. Make some memories or burn off some energy at an indoor play space such as Spins Bowl or Taconic Sport and Racquet!

10. Decorate Easter Cookies

Take a Kids Easter Cookie Decorating Class at River Valley Arts Center with Lady-Whisks-A-Lot. Best for ages 5+ and pre-registration is required.

11. Explore the Mid-Hudson Discovery Museum

Spend a morning at our awesome local museum exploring, playing, and learning. The Mid-Hudson Discovery Museum hosts numerous unique events all week long such as the Fuzzy Friend Clinic with Marist University nursing students using authentic medical equipment to perform check-ups on fuzzy friends.

12. Relax at the Beacon Movie Theater

Enjoy a movie and an adult beverage for the parents in this historic theater building from the 1930s! Leading up to spring break week, they are showing Disney's Snow White! Field of Dreams is also on the lineup this April.

13. Free Admission During National Parks Week

A celebration of our national parks takes place this year from April 19 through April 27. There are no entrance fees on April 19, 2025 in order to encourage families to enjoy local national parks. Here are a few local sites worth a visit this week:

14. Grab a Fancy Hat and Tour Lilymoore Alpaca Farm

For a unique adventure, visit the alpacas and llamas during the Bonnet Bonanza to kick off the season! Dress your best (or in your fanciest hat, too) and capture memories on the farm. Go on a guided tour, take photos, and enjoy the animals.

15. Watch a Ballgame at Heritage Financial Park

Take me out to the ballgame — Opening night is April 5, 2025! With fun, themed nights, a kids zone, and a refurbished stadium, there is something for everything during a day out watching the Hudson Valley Renegades play baseball.

16. Soak up Some History in Staatsburgh

Explore the opulent mansion and gardens of a Gilded Age estate. Learn about the fascinating history of the Mills family and experience the grandeur of the early 20th century in this beautifully preserved historic site.

17. A Unique Drive-In Experience

Four Brother's Drive-In in Amenia officially opens for the 2025 season on March 21! Fridays and Saturdays through April, grab your blankets and snuggle up with the family for A Minecraft Movie (PG) and Drop (PG-13).
