RIVERFRONT DOULA HOSTING ESSAY CONTEST

March 25, 2015

Riverfront Doula has announced an essay contest with a goal to bring attention to the support systems which all new mothers need.

Jennifer Bredin, owner of Riverfront Doula, is hosting their first annual short essay contest to mothers in the lower Hudson Valley. With this contest, she hopes to bring attention to all the unrecognized support that is so important to becoming a mother. The focus of the contest is to describe the largest personal support person you know, and how they have impacted your life.

“It’s not easy to be a mother, or even a woman sometimes,” states Jennifer Bredin “I want to give mothers in the community a chance to really think about the people who have supported them through these years, and also brag a little bit about them. Who doesn’t want the world to know how great their mother, or husband, or best friend is?”

Bredin is a postpartum doula, a profession built around supporting other women. “I want others to see how important the emotional and physical support we provide to each other each day really impacts other lives, “she says. “When I say ‘who is your biggest supporter’ everyone has a name that immediately comes to mind. I want to hear about them!”

Jennifer is asking women who are mothers, or mothers to be, to submit a 400-500 word essay highlighting their support person and the impact on their lives. Submissions can be emailed toRiverfrontDoula@gmail.com with a photo. Entries  are due by April 30, 2015 and the winner will receive a $50 gift card to Il Barilottoa Enoteca, a local restaurant in Fishkill, NY. Full essay contest rules can be found on the company website at www.RiverfrontDoula.com
