Hudson Valley Fair
Dutchess Stadium
1500 New York 9D
Wappingers Falls NY

Weekends April 18- May 4.

This is a family favorite of ours.  We look forward to it every year, and Sean asks to go back all year.

“Our focus is on packing this event with family-friendly entertainment for all ages,” said Ron Weber, general manager of the event. “There is something for everyone to see and enjoy including a huge carnival midway, delicious food, games, free live entertainment and shows including the High Flying Pages Circus, Award-Winning Magician Lance Gifford, a Las Vegas hypnotist show, the Banana Derby, a full petting zoo, camel and pony rides and much more. It’s the perfect Spring event.”

All new this year is crowd favorite the Banana Derby, a race where monkeys dressed in jockey outfits race trained dogs around a track. Fairgoers can even meet the monkeys up close and personal after the races, which are held several times each day.

The flying trapeze act is another example of a fair favorite. The High Flying Pages show consists of 30 minutes of non-stop height, thrill and laughter including flying trapeze, hula hoops, Russian Swing and so much more. They will be performing several death-defying shows each day at the fair.

When Lance Gifford was 16 years old, he left home and began performing his magic tricks and illusions in a traveling circus. Over the years, the award-winning Gifford has toured throughout much of the U.S. and Canada, amazing audiences with his fast-paced and highly entertaining magical illusion show. He and his company perform some of the world’s most intriguing illusions including the “Metamorphosis,” once performed by the late, great Harry Houdini. Some of the “family members” in his troupe include doves, rabbits, a chow chow, toy and standard poodles, a Macaw parrot and Burmese python snakes.

The fair also features a large petting zoo where attendees can see llamas, Texas Longhorn, birds and dozens of creatures normally only found in the best zoos in the U.S. This attraction is open during all fair hours.

Also available at the fair for additional charge are camel and pony rides.

No fair would be complete without delicious fair food.  The Hudson Valley fair has all fair favorites like funnel cakes, zeppoles, Italian sausage, chicken on a stick, candy apples, popcorn, pizza and lots of other fair favorites.

Strates Shows will be providing a spectacular array of amusement rides ranging from high speed riders for thrill seekers to exciting rides for the little ones. More than 40 rides, games and attractions including a 130 ft. tall Giant Wheel, Himalaya, Sky Flyer and Fireball rides will be onsite.

A fireworks display will light up thesky each Saturday evening.

Fair gates open at 5 p.m. on weekdays and 1 p.m. on weekends.
